Tips & Recommendations
I traveled to Nicaragua during a six-week solo trip in autumn 2023. When I arrived, I went directly to Granada, a picturesque city on the coast of Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America. While in Granada, I toured the colonial-styled downtown area from my centrally-located Selina hostel, went to a treehouse rave in the jungle of an active volcano, toured the lake, and saw liquid magma at Masaya Volcano. I also took a day trip to León where I volcano boarded down the side of yet another active volcano with Bigfoot Hostel. Next, I traveled to Selina at Playa Maderas, a tiny town just north of San Juan del Sur on the Pacific side of Nicaragua, where I stayed for three days. While at Selina, I rested, swam in the ocean, and went horseback riding around the beaches and towns.
